Secondo l’UNESCO, una Learning City si configura come un ambiente di apprendimento esteso in cui un apprendimento significativo e permanente si sviluppa lungo tutto l’arco della vita e si realizza attraverso tre contesti educativi: formale, non formale e informale. In questa prospettiva, l’apprendimento può essere interpretato anche attraverso il concetto di apprendimento esteso, secondo il quale i processi cognitivi emergono dall’interazione tra individui, corpo, ambiente e contesti sociali. L’Outdoor Education assume quindi un ruolo strategico come strumento educativo capace di valorizzare il territorio urbano.
Questo studio ha analizzato il contributo dell’Outdoor Education alla promozione dei processi di inclusione nei contesti urbani attraverso la pratica dello sport delle bocce. È stato selezionato un campione eterogeneo di 30 bambini di età compresa tra 9 e 10 anni, includendo anche alunni con Bisogni Educativi Speciali. Il campione è stato suddiviso in due gruppi: un gruppo sperimentale, composto da 15 bambini coinvolti in attività all’aperto, e un gruppo di controllo, anch’esso composto da 15 bambini impegnati in attività al chiuso.
I risultati dello studio hanno confermato l’ipotesi di ricerca, evidenziando l’impatto positivo dell’Outdoor Education, mediata dallo sport delle bocce, sui processi di inclusione tra i bambini.
L’Outdoor Education, attraverso la pratica delle bocce, può favorire l’inclusione sociale e contribuire al raggiungimento degli obiettivi delle Learning Cities, sostenendo i principi dell’apprendimento permanente e dell’apprendimento esteso.
